Sunday Catch Up

Hello everyone,

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend. It has been chilly here of a night but the day's have been lovely if you were in the sunshine.

Now have you all joined in on the GIVEAWAY yet?

There is only 2 days left to enter, so you better get your skates on.
Remember the winner will receive a HEADBAND
They can choose one of 3 designs, what size (newborn to adult) and what colour/s.
Get your family and friends involved, it is a lot of fun!

You can find the entry form at the end of this post or above this post.

My youngest sons partner is heading off to England next February and has asked that I make her some nice thick socks to keep her feet warm. Well who am I to refuse a request to do something I love doing.

I have begun to go through patterns and thought I would knit some socks for her as there are many wonderful patterns, designed by some truly amazing artists. Let's face it, they truly are artists with the way they put stitches together to make remarkable items of clothing and décor.

Whilst looking at the patterns I came across a number of sweet and adorable knitted socks and booties. With excitement, I perused the patterns only to find I was missing a crucial tool to make not only knitted socks and booties for babies but also for adults...DOUBLE POINTED KNITTING NEEDLES.

A trip to Spotlight was already planned to get some more yarn (you can NEVER have too much yarn you know) and some pearl beads so as I can teach myself how to crochet and knit with beads. So keep an eye out for upcoming items utilizing a new technique .

Oh that's right I was talking about Double Pointed Knitting Needles and having to get some. Well before I went to Spotlight, I logged onto Ebay. I love Ebay! Anyway after a good look around I found eleven packs of five dpns. The price was I felt extremely reasonable and as the seller was in Australia I knew I could get them in just a few days rather than a few weeks or so. I basically purchased 55 needles for the price of 10 and they cover quite a variety of sizes. So I am one very happy crafter.

It has actually worked out quite well to get them when I did as I am knitting a lovely rib and cable beanie for my gorgeous and loving husband and even though you use circular needles to begin with, the decreasing is used with dpns.

So now I will be able to knit some cute, adorable socks and booties.

Speaking of knitting hubby a beanie, I have decided that weekends for me will now be devoted to "Me Craft" time. Monday's to Friday's will be spent making items for Made With Love By Penny and weekends will be devoted to making items for the home, family and friends.

The only time this will change will be if I have urgent custom orders to make.

Made With Love By Penny's first newsletter will be coming out on June 1st 2016, so if you are interested in finding out what I will be putting up for sale in June, then join our little family by signing up. Details can be found on the right side column. Don't forget there will be special coupon codes for newsletter members only on select items. Competitions and Early Previews of upcoming listings..

In this week's Wednesday WoW, I will be announcing the winner of the Giveaway, so keep an eye out for an email if you are the lucky one chosen.
Oh and for those who are wondering how the winner is decided, Rafflecopter does it through a random selection.

After Wednesday WoW's post, I will be taking a brief hiatus from blog posting and will be returning on Sunday June 12th 2016.

I wish you all a wonderfully safe and happy week,

Sizes range from newborn to adult. So if you don't have a baby but have a child or would like one for yourself go for it, you have nothing to lose and nothing to pay for as it will be completely free. I will also discuss with the winner apart from sizing but if they want a different colour or colours than the ones I have made.

Now if you like the idea of getting something for nothing, than why not sign up to the Monthly Newsletter It is completly free and your personal information will not be shared or sold to any third party.
Each month you will receive a preview of new items that will be going up for sale on the Made With Love By Penny shop. I'll be hosting little competitions, giving away coupon codes that are for newsletter members only and this could be for certain select items or shipping. I am hoping that we will be able to share other little things as time goes on but I still need to work out the kinks on that.

But rest assured the newsletter will be A ONCE A MONTH edition.

I do apologise for not showcasing any other places today, my week has been a bit topsy turvy, a bit like myself but next week I'm hoping to introduce you all to some spectacular and amazing people who are very artistically gifted.

Have a great week and be safe.

Sunday Night Post, Monday Nigh

Hello everyone,

Sorry this was supposed to be posted on Sunday but I was that tired, I couldn’t stay up long enough to post.

Well today Made With Love By Penny starts shipping worldwide. I am very excited about this.
Originally I was only going to ship within Australia but after a lot of thought and consideration and delving into shipping prices, I have made the leap.
Finger’s crossed it is the right thing to do.

So to coincide with the fact that we are doing worldwide shipping, I have begun a Monthly Newsletter.
By signing up to the Monthly Newsletter, you will become one of the first to find out what new items will be coming out. Competitions and Give Aways will be happening, not to mention I will be doing coupon codes for newsletter recipients only. They will allow you a discount on select items in my store.

Speaking of Give Away’s, I am currently running the very first Made With Love By Penny Give Away.
The prize on offer is your choice of one of three headbands. You can choose any size you wish, from newborn to adult.
I am currently in the process of making the 3 headbands so as I can post a photo of them for you to check them out.
I do hope you will all join in; it is a bit of harmless fun that could result in you or the recipient of your choice sporting a gorgeous new headband.
My many thanks to the following designers:

  •     Oui Crochet for the beautiful “bow headband” that I chose to do in red and white acrylic yarn

  •         Make & Do Crew for the gorgeous “Aspen socialite headband” that I chose to use turquoise blue acrylic yarn with a faux wood button.

  • Nikki In Stitches for the simple, yet adorable rose pattern that I placed on the pink headband (my own design). The colours I chose were a bright, almost lipstick pink colour for the band itself and a blush pink for the rose. Both were made out of acrylic yarn and the centre of the rose sports a cute floral button.

These three headbands will also be coming up for sale at Made With Love By Penny shortly, so stay tuned or better yet, sign up for the Monthly Newsletter (going to have to come up with a better name than “Monthly Newsletter” I think).

The booties are coming along nicely but more on that next week I think!

Over this week I am going to be rewriting item information to include sizes etc and I am also looking at some other little things, which I hope you will like and find favorable. If the mornings stay like today’s then I will be snapping new product photos on our new background, which I think is quite sweet.

Anyway I think I have caught you all up

World wide shipping, GIVEAWAY,

Hello everyone and welcome to...

What a week it has been. I've made a custom headband for a customer and am posting it out to her tomorrow. I do hope the intended recipient likes it.

Only four more big sleeps until Made With Love By Penny begins shipping internationally. I am so looking forward to meeting new customers.

So anyway, the organization thing has fallen down by the wayside again. I still have heaps to do before I will be ready and if the weather would be so kind as to stop being dreary and dismal so as I could get some form of sunshine through the windows to take photo's of everything that is already available for sale as well as some new listings.

I have to admit there are times when I feel there is just not enough hours in the day to do what I want but then I read this article on The Joy At Home about Mom Entreprenurs. It was quite a revealing interview with two mothers who not only work but also have their own businesses and are raising a family.

The questions they answered really made me put my life into perspective as far as not thinking I could be organized. I don't have the excuse of having children at home that require my undivided attention, unless of course you count my three fur-babies, one of whom will demand his grooming be done. lol

Seriously though go check out The Joy At Home. Joy designs home interior goods and is a graphic artist. So if you are looking for something special, go visit her website.

Now you will have noticed that when you first loaded the Made With Love By Penny blog page, a sign-up form appeared. This is for our Monthly Newsletter. When you sign up, you will receive a monthly newsletter with previews of upcoming listings that will be available in the Made With Love By Penny Etsy store. How cool is that! I will also be offering DISCOUNT COUPONS for newsletter members only plus there will be competitions and give-aways.

If you closed the sign-up page but still want to join, then click here.

Just to entice you that little bit more, I'm going to announce my first competition for those who sign up for the newsletter. Just fill out the information on the Rafflecopter widget below. The winner will receive a headband (photo's of choices to come), You can choose from newborn to adult size. Share with your friends, family and colleagues.

Please read the Terms and Conditions of this giveaway.

Happy Mother's Day

Hello everyone,

Just a short post today. I know it can happen at times.

I would just like to wish all the mums, step-mum's, grandmother's, mother's of fur-babies, father's who are both mum's and dad's, foster mum's and any other form of mother I have missed, a truly wonderful and loving Mother's Day.

https://www.ifyoucan.org/happy-mothers-day-quotes-poems-messages-wishes-sms-images-pictures.html

For me, being a mum of 2 amazing son's, 2 gorgeous grandsons and one beautiful step-granddaughter, means that it is Mother's Day everyday.
The pride and love whenever I think of them fills my heart to bursting point.
Add to that mix, the fact that both my sons have found loving, thoughtful partner's whom they wish to share their lives with, makes me smile with joy and a deep love for both of these gorgeous women because they love my son's as I, their mum, feel they should be loved.

To both my mum and mother in-law, thank you for always being there for us. You are both spectacular ladies who have taught us all what it means to love unconditionally.

So on that note, I will leave you all to enjoy the remainder of your day.

PS My mother in-law loved her wrap.

PPS Don't forget to sign up for the Made With Love By Penny monthly newsletter. Be one of the first to find out what the newest listings for the month will be, competitions and give-away's, plus the odd discount  code here and there *wink*

PPPS Remember, worldwide shipping commences next Sunday, 15th May 2016, so spread the word

Branding, Logo's and Canva

Welcome once again to

Today I would like to talk about a great place I was put onto through a Youtube video by the gorgeous and talented Holly Castro from Charm and Gumption.

First a little bit about how I got onto Holly's wonderful tutorials and then onto a brief chat about Canva.

When I decided to open a store, I did the usual thing, check to see what was available, how to use it, costs etc. Finally deciding upon Etsy, I then found myself going onto Youtube

Everybody has different reasons for browsing Youtube. Personally I like to browse tutorials on, yes you got it...crochet, knitting, false nails, nail art, make-up, home ideas, MS, Diabetes, Bipolar and now running your own business.

I suppose I chose Holly's channel to follow due to the fact that she is so infectious with her enthusiasm for what she makes. Her tute's are easy tfroundo understand PLUS Holly share's the most amazing links to what she is talking about.

One of these tutorials was about "Branding" and "Logo" making. Yes even as a small time, stay at home Mum type business, needs to have a "Logo" and defined ideas on "Branding". Basically this is so a person can recognize something as belonging to a certain business ie McDonalds with their golden arches on a red background is not only their logo but as soon as you see something with the red and gold arches, you automatically think of McDonalds.

So Holly suggested Canva for people who couldn't afford to get a professional to do a logo, to give Canva a go.

Now I have to admit I have tried quite a few different free programs and sites online and have not always been pleased with what I have seen and in some instances have found that unless you go for the paid version (normally at a high expense) then you don't have the chance to change much around. Just very, very basic details.

Over to Canva I headed and WOW I was impressed. Knock me off my feet impressed!

Simple to sign up to and yes there is a paid option for businesses but you don't need to pay if you don't want to.

Canva has an amazing array of different templates, fonts, pictures and so on. Some things you need to pay for as they are stock photos or templates that don't belong to Canva but they are like $1- 5US.
But seriously there is enough freebies to use that I think it would take you a decade to use them all.

The part I like the best is that you can upload your own images and so on and utilize them. If you are not sure about what you are doing, they have tutorials which explains EVERYTHING, again in nice simple. easy to follow instructions.

Their blog covers a lot of tips and tricks about how to maintain cohesiveness with your branding amongst other things.

I suggest that you check it out and give it a go. Like I said it is easy to use and if you read and watch their tute's first you will learn a lot of great things. Even if it is for something as simple as making a business card, which I understand a lot of parents are doing now to arrange playdates for their little ones.

Well that's it for me tonight.

Don't forget MAY 15TH 2016, MADE WITH LOVE BY PENNY WILL HAVE WORLD WIDE SHIPPING AVAILABLE.

Catching up and May 15th

Hello everyone,

I hope you have all had a wonderful week.

As you all may be aware I have changed my logo and layout of the blog as well as everything else. Would love to hear your comments on it, so please drop me a line and let me know your thoughts.

The weather has been from one extreme to the other, with today's being icy cold here. But that is why we have lovely throws, shawls, jumpers and wraps.

Speaking of wraps I finally finished the wrap I was making for my Mother in-law for Mother's Day (which is next week people).

I have to admit I think I did a fairly good job of it and I can only hope that MIL likes it. It isn't heavy but still very warm and that was what I was going for as well as a pretty lacy look.

The colour was picked by hubby who thought the variegation of reds and brown complimented his mum's skin tone.

Pattern can be found for FREE at Redheart.

Now if you have read last week's Wednesday WoW post, you would have seen me basically throwing a tantrum over not finding the pattern I was using for a pair of booties I was half way through.

GOOD NEWS! I FOUND IT

As per my intentions I have begun printing off the pattern's I have used which then brings me to the onerous task of doing links to the pattern designers (oh my brain is hurting now lol) but in all sincerity these wonderful ladies and gents put a lot of time and effort into creating the most amazing designs, some for FREE and some you need to pay for. Which when you think about it, is quite fair as they have to make a living too, even if it is something you love doing.

The current pair of booties I am working on are soooo cute. But I'm not going to tell you how they will end up looking as that will take the surprise away but I do have a photo of one half made and the beginning of its mate.

Anyway that is about it for this Sunday's post. Over the next 2 weeks I will be working on my store, getting everything ready for the 15th May. Can't wait!

Organizing...is it even possible?

Welcome to
I was thinking about what to write today whilst trying to find the pattern in my Google Drive for the booties I had started making. Thoughts of do I feature this store, this website, this Facebook Page and so on were rushing about in my brain...when it hit me like a piece of 2 x 4 wood being slammed into the back of my head.

Today's post was going to be about ORGANIZATION!

Now I have to admit that I use to be a very organized person when it came to work and filing on the computer. My fellow workers actually had the cheek to say I was anal retentive about how I used to have my desk set up and how I use to label files in folders on the computer.

Then it all started to change when I began working at a call centre. I actually began to have trouble organizing information in a useful user friendly way.

Jump forward to the past 18 months and it has become a complete shambles. I have become a pattern junkie and Google Drive is jammed packed with patterns both free and purchased. To explain how bad I am, I have used up 10Mb of the the 15Mb that they allow you before you need to purchase more.
TBLogical

So like I said earlier, I was looking for the pattern as I have half a bootie left to do and thought it would give me a bit of a break from the wrap I am making for my mother-inlaw for Mother's Day. But do you think I could find the pattern?

I went through each and every folder, checking for the booties pattern and I swear to the Goddess that the Google Gremlin had struck and was hiding it behind an invisibility cloak. Hellllo Harry Potter references lol

After groaning and cursing all that I could click and open, I felt that lump of 2 x 4 that I mention hit me in the back of my head.

The funny thing is last night I was actually watching Youtube video's about organizing your yarn and how people use some really great and ingenious methods and items to store them in. I really recommend you go to Youtube and type in organizing yarn and then from there I started to click on the links on the sides which got me into all sorts of organizing video's ie, clothing, kitchen, make-up, nail polish (I have a full drawer of that), jewellery and so on. Again go and check it out.

It has dawned on me whilst typing this that even though I know my thoughts are completely chaotic, I think it could possibly be showing up as I write. So for that I do apologize.

So what to do about my pattern fetish and keeping track of what patterns I am currently using and have used???

Well I am glad you wondered that too *giggle*

When I purchased my new laptop a few weeks ago, hubby and I also decided to get a nice small printer that would fit on my cupboard behind me. Just to make it easy to print out labels and so on.

Mrs Green's Kindergarten Korner
My plan is to go through my patterns, print off the one's I have already used for future reference and delete them off Google Drive and file them in folders marked items for sale, items as gifts and items for self etc.

The other thing is by doing that is that I will be able to copy and paste the patterns and enlarge the print on them due to having really bad eyesight at the moment (new glasses and eye check will be happening later in the year).

I also think that once I have done that I will find that blasted pattern and then be able to finish off the bootie. Then I will hit the yarn drawers and bags, heaven knows they need sorting out.

Now on a completely different note, I hope you have all noticed the change I have made to my brand, not to mention the blog page. If you have any comments good or bad you would like to share, then please don't hesitate to leave a comment. I would so love get your feedback on it.

Don't forget Made With Love By Penny will be opening its doors to the international market on May 15th 2016.

Until Sunday, I wish everyone a wonderful week and hope you all keep safe.

ANZAC DAY

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry my weekly Sunday Blog Post did not happen but I had a "virus" glitch and had to reformat my brand new laptop. By the time I got it working, it was time for bed.

So today I am dedicating this blog post to the men and women past and present both here and abroad.

http://www.f-o-o-o-o.com/tag/anzac-day-picture-quotes/

What better day to honor those who have laid down their lives and are protecting our country than on ANZAC Day. This is the day that we remember those diggers of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who fought so valiantly on the shores of Gallipoli on the 25th April 1915, 101 years ago.

When I think of the ANZAC's who fought so long ago, I immediately feel a sense of pride and loss. Pride at being an Australian with a very diverse family background. Loss for all those who have been impacted by the events of being in a war, both then and throughout the years that have gone by.

I can not imagine how a soldier feels when they are told they are being shipping out, nor can I fathom how their families and loved ones feel knowing that these brave and selfless people are putting their lives on the line to protect their country from adversity.

So to end this post today, I would like everyone to take a moment and remember what these brave men and women have done and are doing for their fellow Australian's and if you happen to pass a member of the military both past and present, STOP, SMILE AND SAY THANK YOU!

Wednesday Wow

Hello everyone and welcome to
My very first post is to let you all in on my BIG ANNOUNCEMENT that I hinted at in my Sunday post just gone. (click here if you missed it)

Drum roll please...

Well I have decided that Made With Love By Penny

will now be open world wide.

Yes, you read that right. Instead of just offering my handmade goods to Australian residents only, I will now be making them available worldwide!

ClipartPanda
I have to say I am very excited about it all but it also means a lot of work needs to be done prior to the big opening.

Keep May 15th aside to check out all my goods and perhaps put in an order or two *hint hint* lol

The original day was going to be May 1st but when I realized how little time there is left, I knew I would be having trouble to get everything I need to do done.

Clipart Panda
My illustrious hubby, Shane, is going to give me a crash course in how to use the tripod and camera
so I can rephotograph each and every item on our new background. Plus there is a possibility that there will be a new logo to share with you all. Fingers crossed!

Anyway spread the word and please come and "Like" my Facebook page. You don't even need to leave this blog, just click on the link on the right hand side and voila you will be getting updates.

Also I have links to my Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+ account if you would like to follow me.

Ok I think I have covered everything, at least I hope so *giggle* I really should have written it all down in point form.

Well I had better scramble and put some time into creating.

Next week for Wednesday WoW, I am going to have a very special lady come and visit and tell us all about her wonderful and aromatic business. Can't wait for that one *big grin*

Until Sunday,

Custom order, booties, wraps and Super Big Announcement

Hello everyone!

I hope you have all been having a wonderful week and a nice relaxing weekend. My week as usual has been quite busy and when you consider I don't work, you have to ask yourself, "How is it she has had a busy week?"

Well it is quite easy to be honest. Between Doctor's visits and hooking, catching up with family members, it is very, very easy.

Anyway enough of my personal life and on to my hooking life.

SUPER BIG ANNOUNCEMENT COMING YOUR WAY!

WorldArtsMe

Yes I have a super big announcement coming up in the next couple of weeks so please keep an eye out for my new "WEDNESDAY WOW MID WEEK BLOG POST",where I will share with you what is happening.

I will also be showcasing some amazing Etsy stores, that I have found and some independent sellers who are offering great products from their websites.

Along the way I will also add some links to great tutorials, websites and so on that involve crochet, knitting, all sorts of crafting and other goodies.

If you would like to be featured on Wednesday WoW, please email me and I will get back to you about it.

As I told you all in last week's post, I was making a custom order for Shane (love of my life) Aunty who was expecting (and my apologies here for getting it wrong) a new great-grandchild. Well I finally finished the little outfit, which comprises a beanie, jacket, pants (leggings), booties and mittens. All in white with cute white buttons and until this morning was going to be white ribbon where required.

http://science-all.com/baby-boy-clipart.html
Well I am pleased to announce that our extended family has been made even bigger and special by the birth of a little boy. Mother and son are doing well. Congratulations to the proud parents, grandparents and great grandparents.

So here is a photo of what I made being modelled by the ever co-operative and extremely quiet, Opal.
As you will see I have changed the white ribbon for blue ribbon which I felt was appropriate considering.

So in between time I have started working on some booties to put up for sale on Made With Love By Penny BUT and yes it is a big but lol I have also been working on a present for my mother in-law for Mother's Day and as usual I leave everything like that to the last minute *giggle* I'm sure there are a lot of you out there who do that too. Please leave me a comment and let me know how close to special days do you leave getting presents.

With all that in mind, I have a photo for you of one unfinished bootie to look at and a glimpse of the gorgeous light weight yet warm wrap (version 3) that I have embarked on.

Well that is all for today, I wish you all a safe and wonderful week and oh please forgive my grammatical and missing word errors from last week *blush*

What a week!

Hi everyone,

Well as it says..."What a week",

First off it has been Dr's appointments after Dr's appointments. I think it has gotten to the stage they are starting to know me and Shane quite well but still it had to be done.

This can be found on Instructables with links to designers.
This isn't the one I am going to make but how delish
I found this on Instructables
I found this cute little crochet pin cushion a little while back from Just Crochet Me and I must admit I was looking forward to making it but now after having been a pin cushion myself this week, I feel a bit sorry for the yarn and stuffing lol

All that aside, I have finally got the diaper covers up in Made With Love By Penny and believe me I don't think I will ever leave it to do all in one day lol But at least they are now up and available for purchase.
Each diaper cover is $17.00 AUD with FREE POSTAGE within Australia, plus if you are buying any of the items for a friend or relative who lives FREE wrapping, along with a hand made card and will send the package directly to the recipient. So keep that in mind. To view the policies of Made With Love By Penny just click here.
in a different state, I am offering

So this week I have been working on a little newborn set for Shane's Aunty who is waiting to welcome her great, great grandchild. I'll share some photo's with you all when it is daylight. Night time and flashes just don't look right. Wouldn't you all agree?

Well I think that is about it for me this week. Still working on Booties but they have had to take a back seat for the moment.

Have a wonderful week and keep safe.
Until next time

Trying something new

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and if you have children who are currently on school holidays that they and you are enjoying your time together.

Okay let's get into it for this week.
Booties - 1 pair done.
I know it's bad but I do have a very good reason. My hubby's aunty is about to become a great-great-grandmother and has asked for me to make an outfit for her upcoming gggrandchild. What is a woman to do? Especially when she loves this particular Aunty to pieces. She pulls out her patterns and starts looking for unisex patterns that will befit the soon to be here bubba.

Diaper Covers.
Photos have been taken and much to hubby's disgust I have decided I want him to rephotograph EVERYTHING! lol
See we had originally chosen a white and pale lemon background. Unfortunately, hubby has also had to revert to using a black background for those items that just don't show up properly. Now I'm not saying I'm a perfectionist, (not really) but I have been watching a lot of Youtube tutorials regarding selling and making sure that you have cohesiveness with what you are doing, especially when it comes to photographing your items for sale.
Ahh, now I know a few of you have just seen the light-bulb flash before your eyes. Cohesiveness is not what I have at the moment in regards to background for the baby clothes I make.

Enter a trip to Spotlight!
We both decided that rather than using A3 size card which hubby says he has trouble in making sure that he doesn't get anything else like the card table or wall into the picture, we
both came to the conclusion that using material would be a better idea.
Now let me tell you, choosing something that is neutral per say but yells baby is quite difficult. I found some beautiful fabrics but they were either extremely bright and busy or were copyrighted material with famous characters. YIKES...this was not looking like a good outing. We found some different neutral colours that we both liked but spending between $25 AUD and $50 AUD for a meter of material was not practical.
Feeling quite despondent  and not thinking we were ever going to find anything, we started heading out of the store only to come across a shelving display of material on sale and thank the Goddess, we found the perfect, well two perfect lots of material...a nice dove grey background with white outlined rabbits on it and a white with dark grey outlined teddy bears. Ten minutes later we walked out with a meter of the white with the teddy's on it.
I can not wait to see what the photos are going to look like with the new backgrounds.

New thoughts going through the brain.
After getting our new background, I am now considering changing my logo background etc, even contemplating changing the name a little as the store name is quite long BUT that is one I am going to have to really think long and hard about.

I hope you like the photos with the old backgrounds of the diaper covers. I'll be posting them up as soon as I have all the info filled out and replacing the photos with the new background as they are taken.

Hope you all have a great week.
